BYR PRIME ELEMENTS CONCEPT

’BYR Prime Elements(BYR 99)’’는 Blue, Yellow, Red 각각 33개씩 총 99개로 이루어져 있으며 18인치(45.72cm)의 직경과 1인치(2.54cm)의 두께, 그리고 작품의 중심에 축을 만들어 360도 회전이 가능하도록 만든 원 형태의 유닛들이다.

‘Blue’는 ‘정사각형’을 기본으로 한 33개의 유닛들로 구성되어 있다. 정사각형의 네 점으로부터 시작되어 생략, 확장 혹은 원의 형태와 결합되어 다양한 조형요소를 구축함으로써 현실세계에서 경험할 수 있는 마음과 물질의 모든 상태를 나타낸다.

‘Yellow’는 원에 내접하는 ‘정삼각형’을 모티프로 하여 33개의 기하학적 형태들과 조합된다. 이 유닛들은 인간의 영역을 벗어나 존재하는 자연의 조화로운 구조와 반복, 리듬, 분석적 접근 등을 보여주기 위한 것들이다.

‘Red’는 ‘점’으로부터 시작된 33개의 유닛들이다. 유선형이나 비선형 들의 곡선들이 점과 어우러지도록 구성되며 중력, 에너지의 이동, 궤도, 빛처럼 우주에서 비롯되는 물리적인 현상이나 힘의 변환 등을 표현한다.

이렇게 만들어진 99개의 BYR유닛들은 서로 간의 물리적 결합 혹은 화학적 융합으로 변화, 균형, 통일 등의 조형적 중용을 만들어가며, 각 유닛들은 매 순간의 삶 속에서 작가의 몸과 마음이 직접 체험한 것들을 드러내는 가장 중요한 기본적인 조형요소로 작동한다.

따라서 BYR Prime Elements 들은 하나의 미술 형식으로 귀결되는 조형적 완성체라고 보기 보다는 세상의 자연스런 흐름에 대한 ‘순간적 자각’ 혹은 ‘찰나적 포착’을 드러내며 매 순간 변화 확장해 가는 유기적 조직체라 할 수 있다.

CONCEPT ABSTRACT

BYR Prime Elements(BYR 99) is not simply painting or sculpture. BYR is the basis for building a system in which to deliberately solve the origin of my thought.

Basic framework of BYR is a circle (18” diameter, 1” depth plywood, rotating on center axes). My single act of initiation and conclusion result in a circle, and the space that we humans occupy is also best represented by forming a sphere. Gravitational forces, surface tension, and the cyclic movement through internal energy naturally form a circular shape, and as we are like the small particles on earth creating various phenomena, my works in this exhibition manifest as 33 variants in each BYR category.

BYR PRIME ELEMENTS(BYR 99)

Having experienced a rapid, continued metamorphosis of perception and viewpoint of the world through changing circumstances, I have turned to the metacognitive aspect to redefine myself.  BYR shows my learnings, growth, reflection, and actions due to that metacognition.

Blue is my praxis of untangling the interrogation of the unknown in life denoting the state of mind and matter. In B, the foundational shape, a square, is inscribed in each circle. The four fixed points express the limitation of understanding self-awareness and psychologically embedded culture and self-reflection. These principles are used as a foundation unit and a surface perception of graphic lines. The linear recurrence relationship of points connects everything that is active in the raw progression.

Yellow is an interpretation of the cosmological events: birth, growth, death, and other patterns of biological and chemical nature. The concept behind series Y is to juxtapose the rational and metaphysical systems that coexist by building my own pattern methodology.  The inscribed equilateral triangle is used as the motif.  Diverse patterns emerge from the motif to represent analytical approaches to nature's harmonized structures, repetition, rhythm, and force gravity.

Red investigates the physical law of nature based on phenomena such as gravitation, energy movement, orbit, and light. The base element of R is a dot that is representative of a particle.  The line, shape, and form on R probe are both the microscopic and telescopic trace of the particle motion and the energy transformation therein. The others chronicle the interactions of the particle with its surroundings.

99 BYR objects are to be interspersed, rotating on center axes.  The origin of extrapolation would be installed in a space that is utilized as a universe-like platform for the installation of the creations that had gone through multistep preconditions and procedures to demonstrate interesting interconnectivity among the pieces that reflect my attitude toward life.

BYR OS

BYR Organic Schemata (OS) 시리즈는 나의 사고의 기원을 체계적으로 표현하고자 만든 시스템 안에서 탄생된 BYR Prime Elements 99 units들 중 각 알고리즘을 세 개씩 뽑아 만든 조형이다.

BYR Prime Elements 99 units는 Blue 33 units, Yellow 33 units, Red 33 units로 이루어져 있고, 각각의 유닛의 요소들이 융합, 제한, 화합, 변화, 재 맥락 등으로 새롭게 조합된 결합체들이다.  BYR Prime Elements와 생기는 상호작용을 확장해가며 유기적인 흐름을 연구하는 작업들이다.


The BYR Organic Schemata (OS) series is a model created by extracting three of each algorithm from 99 units of BYR Prime Elements, which were created in a system created to systematically express the origin of my thinking.

BYR Prime Elements 99 units are composed of Blue 33 units, Yellow 33 units, and Red 33 units, and the elements of each unit are newly combined combinations such as fusion, limitation, harmony, change, and re-context. These are works that study the organic flow by expanding the interactions that occur with BYR Prime Elements. 

BYR QUAD

BYR Quad Origin 시리즈는 BYR Prime Elements의 근본, 시작점을 알리는 기본조형요소만으로 만들어진 조형적 중용을 표현하는 시리즈이다.

The BYR Quad Origin series is a series that expresses the formative moderation made only with basic formative elements that inform the origin and starting point of BYR Prime Elements.
